Hi Brenda,
I don't know if you were serious about the kiddie pool, but the tadpoles
will need food. You should try to find a barely-moving section of stream
that you could release the tadpoles into. Better yet, you should try to move
the eggs to such a location so the tadpoles that make it to adulthood can
return to mate in the future to a more appropriate location than your pool.

This evening while on back deck meeting with pool guy and trying to
converse over the loud chorus of Cope's Gray Treefrogs*, a large bird flew
directly over us. Initial thought was Great Blue Heron. I grabbed up the
binoculars I just happened to have close at hand. The bird turned and last of
the
setting sun cast a glow on the all white feathers of the GREAT EGRET, a new
yard bird!
As darkness fell, the treefrogs began converging down inside our above
ground pool that has about 4" of collected rainwater. Considering the frog
fest that's been going on for several hours now with frogs even climbing up
and over a 6' wood privacy fence, the pool liner replacement will have to be
put on hold until the tadpoles emerge and they can be safely collected and
transferred to another holding container. Does anyone have a shallow
kiddie pool they would like to donate?
*Audio recording of one singing frog on Sunday evening has been reviewed
and confirmed as the first documented record of Cope's Gray Treefrog in
Augusta County. Given the numbers in our backyard this evening, they've been
around for a while or they fell from the sky during last night's storms.
