Hi Karen,
First, Happy Holidays to everyone! My wife Jess, baby Jack & I are heading
home (Boston) for quite a while over the holidays and will sadly miss out on
any Christmas bird counts, etc. in this area. In addition to visiting family
we'll be bouncing around the frozen Northeast looking for great gray owls, gray
jays, boreal anythings and puffins...can't forget the puffins.
Karen - absolutely use ebird.org to keep track of your sightings. It is free,
and people nationwide can benefit from the info you input. If every
experienced birder (and the careful lesser-experienced ones) would put their
sightings in eBird it would be an even more valuable resource for all of us! I
like it most as a tool for finding where birds I want to see have been seen
lately.
eBird.org is very simple to use and quite a bit of fun - it keeps track of
lists of birds you've seen by county, state and country. It's kind of
addicting...
Cheers,
