All, I was at Hog Island yesterday for another butterfly count. The water is
very high in the impoundments and "they" were mowing grass. Only interesting
observation was American Coot in the first body of water on the right. The bird
was near the shoreline near the road. Otherwise, usual suspects -- Barn
Swallows and Eastern Kingbirds on the wires.
Butterflying wasn't great either.

Hog Island totally dead - no mud flats, water high. Exactly one shorebird: a
Spotted Sandpiper. We didn't walk into the interior, just stayed on the main
road, so there might well have been more birds on other ponds/empoundments.
However, on the way back, Crewe's Channel is now hosting FIVE immature White
Ibis, plus at least 4 Solitary Sandpipers.
