Wow! How bizarre
Speaking of Canada Geese... today I saw two Canada Geese fight off two black
Angus at Nazarene Wetlands. I think the cows were a little surprised at the
tenaciousness of Geese. The Cows tried charging the Geese and when that failed
they turned quarters and kicked at the geese. The Geese were not daunted and
won the day. Their nest was on slightly elevated ground where one would expect
a goose to nest.

Subject: [shenvalbirds] Bald Eagles & Squatter's Rights / Clarke Co.
The original BAEA nest on the Holy Cross Abbey property in Clarke Co, has been
replaced by another nest, down-river from it about 500 yards. The old nest,
always hard to see from the south side of the river (on Cool Spring Campus of
Shenandoah University), has been taken over by a CANADA GOOSE. Yesterday, with
binoculars only, we thought we saw that, through the numerous branches. Today,
we took our scope and confirmed what we had suspected. Our records for this old
nest only go back to 2010, so we don't really know when it was built. We may
never know why this nest was abandoned and replaced by the eagles, but we were
certainly surprised to see who took it over. Jon & BJ LittleWinchester
