The James Madison University ornithology class had an exciting day. Pine
siskins, Purple finches, Blue and Green winged teal, Osprey, Horned and
Pie-billed grebes, Tree, Roughwing, and Barn swallow, and a Great egret. Field
sparrows were singing as well as a few bars from Whitethroats and the Purple
finches. On various ponds: late Canvasbacks, Ringnecks, Buffleheads, Gadwall,
and Scaup.
The highlight of the day was a male Eurasian wigeon Lake Campbell, Massanetta
Springs near Harrisonburg. It was with 10 American Wigeons(perhaps more as
some where seen flying as the van rolled in).
