Hi,
Grasshopper Sparrow's were buzzing and visualized on Hardscrabble between
Hevener and Wimer Mt. Road Saturday morning about 6am. Numerous Red-Headed
Woodpeckers seen feeding in Cherry Trees on Wimer Mtn Road.

Not many birders come here after early June, understandably. Bobolinks are now
much harder to find since most hayfields have been mowed. Also, the warblers
and other songbirds are quieter and more circumspect. Nevertheless, I was
surprised that many of the target birds on 642 were there in their expected
locations, including the Alder Flycatcher at Straight Fork. Surprises included
2 Dicksissals on the lower end of 642 as well as a Horned Lark inflight
display. Perhaps the most unexpected was a singing White-throated Sparrow in
my back yard in New Hampden, apparently a first (almost) summer record for the
county. Notable missed include Vesper And Savannah Sparrows.
