Bev Leeuwenburg joined us on a trip to Staunton to find Allen Larner's CACKLING
GOOSE. We easily found the goose on Bell's Lane within a flock of 20 or so
Canada.
From Winchester to Staunton & back, we also found a good number of raptors.
Many hawks were found en route along I 81, as well as more along back roads on
the way home.
Raptors:
Harrier - 1
Sharp-shinned - 1
Cooper's - 1
Red-shouldered - 1
Red-tailed - 35
Kestrel - 12
MERLIN - 1 at Tom's Brook (last & favorite hawk of the day)
Non-raptors:
Loggerhead Shrike - 1 seen by Bev along I 81
Pipit - some
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 6-8
White-crowned SP - many
