VA Birders,
I birded for a few hours in the late AM today around the Remington area of
Fauquier County. I was hoping the snowy fields would have pushed the "field
species" to the road and was dissapointed to see most of the snow had melted
last night. The majority of the fields were mostly still covered but some had
opened up.
Best bird of the day was a single VESPER SPARROW near the corner of Myers Mill
Road (623) and Springs Road (802) northwest of Remington. Had great looks of
this bird who was loosly associatign with the Savanna Sparrows. I also has one
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW on Grassdale Road (755) southeast of Remington. Nothing
else of note but a much needed break from inside. Happy Holidays!
