Paul Glass and I ventured up the Blue Ridge Parkway on Sunday, birding in
general, but also looking for what seems to be the mythical Ruffed Grouse. The
grouse remained mythical, but plenty of other birds cooperated as we explored
Radar Rd. (the road to the right at the beginning of Warbler Rd.) as well as
the first mile or so of Warbler Rd. itself. Some of the birds of the day
were... Chestnut-sided, Black and White, Hooded, Black-throated Blue, Canada
and Blackburnian Warblers, Redstarts, Veerys, Ovenbirds, Wild Turkeys (and
babies), Blue-headed Vireo, Broad-winged Hawk and more.
Some of them I was fortunate enough to photograph (including one ridiculously
cute immature American Redstart).
