Howdy all,
I just want to inform that the next couple of days there is going to be a tree
clearing machine at Kiptopeke State Park clearing trees in the area (mostly
pines). I plan on banding tomorrow morning (if it is not raining) for a few
hours and then I have to take down the station to allow this machine to start
clearing trees in and near the station. I guess this machine can throw debris
close to 400 feet, so the nets have to come down. I am not sure how long it is
going to take but we might have to miss a day, or two, of banding to allow for
the clearing. Also the weather could also play a major factor in allowing for
the machine to get in.
Therefore, I would recommend not visiting the banding station the next couple
of days, at least not until we are banding again.
Anyway, I will keep the listserv posted on when we are back up and running.
