I enjoyed several trips over the weekend, one to Highland County and the
other to King William County. The highlight of the trip to Highland
County (Saturday) was four (4) Golden Eagles (2 adults/2 juveniles) of
which three (3) were seen in the distance (
http://www.visitingnature.com/goldeneagle.htm ;) soaring together. All
the birds were observed off of SR 644 and SR 643. The trip to King
William County today was filled with waterfowl. As mentioned earlier in
the week, "the Pocket", was full of many puddle ducks and diving ducks.
Shorebirds such as Dunlin and Greater Yellowlegs were also present.
While I did not observe the Eurasian Widgeon found earlier this week, I
was fortunate enough to observe two (2) White-fronted Geese at a pond
with Canada's elsewhere in the county (
http://www.visitingnature.com/whitefrontedgoose.htm ;).Swans, Canadas have
increased in numbers in this county over the last couple of weeks and a
few Snow's were also observed. Allen
