I have uploaded a few images of the adult male WESTERN TANAGER that was
discovered at our back yard feeders this morning here in Augusta Co.
The visits are very brief and sporadic and the bird is extremely skittish. On
top of that it does not like to associate with too many Siskins. We have over
90 as of today's count!! The tanager will approach the feeders only when there
are a few Siskins. (I put seed out front and set out a saucer full of seed to
draw some of the Siskins away from the main tray feeder.)
I have received a few requests to come and see the bird. The main feeders the
tanager visits are in the back yard within a 6' privacy fence and because of
swimming pool and dogs the gates are locked and unfortunately I will not be
around much this week taking care of my 93 year old dad and preparing for a
long trip to Ohio.
