At 4:20 p.m. today (10 Nov) a male Western Tanager was at our feeder hard
at work looking for peanut hearts. We have to assume this is the same bird
initially detected here in January 2009 and that has been with us through
the winter each calendar year thereafter. Last fall (2012) the bird was
first noted on 17 November, its earliest arrival date to that point. It was
last seen 20 March 2013. We can only hope this current visit will be as
long!!
Visitors are welcome.......just know there will be a lot of work going on
at our house this week.
