Hey all, Elisa Enders and I made a spur of the moment trip to see the
White-winged Crossbill in Glen Allen. The bird was seen visiting the seed
feeder and preening in adjacent trees around 7:30 this morning, and was seen
briefly again about 10 minutes later in a flowering maple full of Goldfinches.
Thanks to Todd Dixon for letting us and others enjoy this interesting bird.
A quick stop by the pond at Belmont at York apartments in York Co. yeilded
little in the way of waterfowl, with a few Scaup, Ring-necked Ducks, Ruddy
Ducks, and Gadwall present as well as 6 Am. Coot. Looks like the Redheads have
left this site for the season.
