Those of you planning to visit Craney Island tomorrow should look for Wilson's
Phalaropes in the north cell.
Today there were about a 1000 shorebirds in the diminishing body of water there
at the west side of the north cell. You'll probably need a scope to find the
phalaropes and identify the shore birds -- lots of yellowlegs, dunlin and other
peeps. No sign of the American Golden Plover reported last week by Friday
visitors.
I was there with Ruth Beck's team today to conduct the weekly bird survey and
we found most of the shorebirds in this spot.
Note that it is VERY dusty and dry there these days. The small bodies of water
are evaporating quickly.
