Yesterday at Long Branch Nature Center it was birdier than I had expected late
afternoon into evening. I heard or saw what I estimate as at least 3 Wood
Thrushes. I heard American Redstarts and saw a few other warblers that I could
not identify in poor light. And, I saw a probable early Winter Wren. The bird
was skulking (appropriate behavior) and the light was bad, and peeks were
fleeting. But it appeared to have the right color, size, shape, and behavior,
and it was in plausible habitat in an intermittent stream valley near the
building. The weather was cloudy, cold, and dim, with spits of rain. Cheers,
