On my out birding this morning, about a mile from my house, I spotted a
flycatcher
up on a thin snag, which often has a Downy hanging out there. I stopped the
car,
hoping it was a bigger-than-Empid flycatcher (OSFL came to mind). It was
indeed
an Empid, bright yellow in the morning sun. He kindly lowered himself to a
shady
area, and was still very yellow from chin to vent (a bit of a vested
look),good eye
ring and wing bars. WOW.
Now I have to find an Alder!
