Dear All,

I do not have the ability to post to va-bird while I am on the road. Can someone please post the 2 harlequin ducks & reply to all that you are doing it so va-bird does not get duplicate posts? Thanks very much.

On Fri., Dec. 14, Jared Sparks and I found 2 Harlequin Ducks on the Chincoteague causeway at the Queen Sound launching ramp. They were RIGHT IN the launching ramp water 30 feet from us, a sub-adult male and a female, at 3 P.M. Tame.

Today, Sat., Dec. 15, I flushed at close range, c. 25 feet, and had a great view of a Yellow Rail on Cedar Island c. noon while taking part in the Wachapreague Christmas Bird Count. We also saw 35 Snow Buntings and a Short-eared Owl there. My companions were distant when I'd flushed the rail and a drive to relocate it was unsuccessful.

Also Jared & I saw 2 Cave Swallows at Eagles Nest Campground and Golf Course S. of Ocean City, MD.

Best to all. - Harry Armistead.
