Highlights from a morning at the Hutchinson Unit of the Rappahannock Valley
NWR with members of the Fredericksburg Birding Club and a solo afternoon on
the Northern Neck included a Brown Pelican at the Rt. 360 Tappahannock
Bridge, a single YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD in a mixed blackbird/starling
flock several thousand strong at the intersection of Naylor’s Beach Road
(Rt.634) & Strangeway Road (Rt.636), four Greater Yellowlegs on a large
farm pond at Newland Road. (Rt.624) & Carter’s Warf Road (Rt.622), and two
Common Loons on the Potomac at George Washington’s Birthplace NM. What a
fantastic fall day!
