I still have a hummingbird and wanted to suggest that folks keep up their
feeders this fall if they've experienced drought conditions. Where I live,
flowers AND many kinds of insects are rather scarce. Hummers--and other
birds--may be finding it difficult to get enough to eat. I believe that's
why many of the migratory birds left my area earlier than usual.
Also, I had a female or immature male Scarlet Tanager in one of my Photinia
shrubs shortly before 9 AM this morning. And there were at least 3
Red-breasted Nuthatches here.
Sincerely,
Marlene
