Hi,
I made the unfortunate mistake of stopping in Bridgewater this morning to read
some Civil War signs at Seven Bridges Park on route 42 by the North River. An
older couple (probably between the ages of 60 and 70) asked me about a pathway
to the river where they could look for an eagle's nest they'd heard was located
about a mile west of the park. This little park, for some strange reason, has
no paths in the park except to a gazebo. Even to access the signs, I had to
walk through wet grass.
After informing these folks of that fact, I decided to get a photo of a huge
Silver Maple while they returned to their vehicle. BIG MISTAKE (sigh). I
heard the dreaded sound of someone hitting my vehicle (there were very few
vehicles in a rather large parking lot) and I saw this couple in a silver car,
the back end of which was not far from the back of my car. I wasn't far away
at all and immediately headed over. To my utter amazement and shock, these
people didn't wait but vamoosed out of there!!!!!
They damaged my bumper, which will cost a lot to replace (it's not
repairable). It has really put a pall over my day, more so because of the
fact that these people were totally unwilling to take responsibility for the
woman's poor driving ability (there was absolutely no reason for her to back up
straight across the rather large parking lot right into my red car) and the
repair bill.
Because this couple was looking for an eagle's nest that someone had told them
about, probably someone in Harrisonburg where they'd said they lived, I was
wondering if anyone on this list serve might have sent an older couple over to
that location to see an eagle nest and thus might be able to provide me with
their names (you can send it to me anonymously or not; I won't reveal it).
I'm stunned these folks--who are plenty old enough to know better--would
simply drive away without providing me with insurance info and their names,
especially after we had talked briefly and I was in full view of them!
A pretty sad commentary on morals. Thanks ever so much for any help.
Sincerely,Marlene
