Yesterday (Aug 22) I spent the day in King George and Westmoreland Counties.
mostly in the area of Leedstown (Westmoreland). The highlights were a
buff-breasted sandpiper at Parker Farm where Leedstown Rd bends away from the
Rappahannock River, a Little Blue Heron juvenile at another farm in Leedstown,
and a black tern in King George Co at the ponds along route 3. Other
shorebirds included 48 killdeer, a lesser yellowlegs, 1 least, 1 semipalmated
sandpiper and 2 unidentifed peeps at Parker Farm, and 2 Pectoral, 2 Least and 2
Spotted sandpipers at King George ponds. I saw very few migrant landbirds.
All the best
