Hey all, this morning I saw a very cooperative American Bittern in the marsh at
the corner of Railroad Ditch and West Ditch in Great Dismal Swamp NWR, Suffolk.
The bird was foraging in plain view at the edge of the marsh and close to the
road. It was originally found two days ago by other Refuge staff and was seen
by them again yesterday morning. Auto access to this portion of the Refuge is
available Monday-Saturday 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM (vehicles must be out by 4:00 PM)
via the Railroad Ditch Auto Tour entrance off Desert Rd.
