Just a quick note: eBird does indeed keep track of ABA and some world
lists, but heavily weighted to this side of the world (U.S., Central &
South America). On the "My eBird" page it lists:
World, North America, Caribbean, South America, AOU Area, ABA Area,
United States and Lower 48.
But you are definitely correct - you can't enter the birds you saw in
Europea, Asia, Africa, and other locales. I know a goal of eBird is
to expand their coverage, which I'm sure will include individual
country lists, etc. etc. Birds from my Italian honeymoon are floating
around hoping to join my eBird lists some day.
