Hello Birders,
I did some birding east of Richmond over the weekend. Saturday morning was
spent in King William Co. Walkerton and the Pocket were the areas I covered.
Highlights at Walkerton were
Horned Lark 16
Killdeer 25
Pectoral Sandpiper 1
Least Sandpiper 1
Northern Bobwhite 2
Bobolink 1
Tide was in at the Pocket
Forster's Tern 5
Great Egret 3
Osprey 4
Saturday evening and Sunday morning I visited Harrison Lake Fish Hatchery
(Charles City County) and Crewe's Channel (Henrico Co.).
Previous reports have well covered the birds seen at Crewe's. The shorebird
variety has been ok.

In Charles City

At the Fish Hatchery an imm. Little Blue Heron was present on both visits.
Also this location has been a good spot for great study views of shorebirds.
Both days there were always swallows in small groups 30-50, Mostly Purple
Martin, but also Tree, Bank, and Barn Swallow.
Finally Laughing Gulls (c.20) and an adult Greater Black-backed Gull were at
Jordan Point (Prince George Co.).
