VA BIRDers,
Returning home today, I looked upon the Potomac off the picnic and marina
areas of Dyke, 515 to 6pm. A wonderful show dominated by Chimney Swifts. I
could only estimate the numbers which are below:
C. Swift 215
Tree Sw 30
Barn Sw 24
N. Rough-winged Sw 15
Bank Sw 9
Cliff Sw 4
Purple Martin 2
Also, 8 Greater Scaup, 1 Lesser Scaup and 12 Mallards. Plus a few Caspian
Terns (about 30), 3 Boneys and 50 Ring-billed Gulls. And a dozen DC
Cormorants.
