Today's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk was marked by balmy weather,
lightly cloudy skies, and no breeze. 15 birders spotted 35 species, with
highlights being, 'The Ducks are Back!'. With the pond full of Mallards,
Northen Pintails, Northern Shovlers, and Green-winged Teal, it was a Huntley
scene of old. The only common species missing were Wood ducks and Hooded
Mergansers. Maybe next week. The air was full of the soft whistle of Eastern
Bluebirds, the distinctive call of a pair of Killdeer, and a great many
Sparrows of various types.

and is open to all. Birders meet in the parking lot at the Park's entrance at
3701 Lockheed Blvd, Alexandria, VA. As winter approaches, unsafe conditions on
the trails and boardwalks may cause a last minute cancellation of the Walk.
