While watching the girls' lacrosse game today at Flint Hill School west campus
in Oakton where there is an amazingly expansive view of the dramatically cloudy
sky i saw three raptors fly overhead. The first was a big cooper's hawk with
what looked like nesting material flying into the patch of woods where it
nested last year. The second was a red-tail soaring overhead. Simultaneoulsy a
Peregrine falcon flew over head in an approximately western direction. When I
got it in my binocs I could see an antennae above its back. It was about 4:35
or 4:40 this afternoon.
I wonder if there are any on-going real-time tracking studies going on that
could give me information about this bird. I see on the CCB falcon tracking
website that "Ross" who has been spending a lot of time at Harper's Ferry seems
to have been criss-crossing the area recently so I wonder if it was her.

Also had my first of season chipping sparrow for the campus today.
And the toads were singing and mating in the stormwater retention "dry" pond.
All the best
