The Red-throated Loon found several days ago by David Boltz at Lake Frederick,
Frederick County, was spectacularly visible today from the causeway of the
lake. The loon dived some but was mostly on the surface. Light was terrific.
The upturned bill and head, speckled back, and crisp demarcation between white
and gray on lateral aspect of neck could be easily seen. Other birds were a
cormorant, Ring-billed Gull, Hooded Mergansers and Buffleheads. Stauffer Miller
