VA Birders,
The numerous reports from the sod farms along Bristow Road are great. I
too have been there to see the American Golden-Plovers this fall.
However, I viewed them from the gravel road on the north end because the
owner of this sod farm (Kettle Wind) does not like birders. Laura
Catterton and I had the unfortunate experience of being escorted out by
the owner last fall and told that we were not to trespass on his
property even when the workers are not there. I don't want anyone else
to have that experience. Viewing from the gravel road (Split Oak Lane)
works just fine if you go in the afternoon. On Saturday around 6:00pm I
was able to view the entire area through my scope without actually
having to enter the property.
