Well the migrants Marc reported yesterday at Leesylvania seem to have
relocated. There were a few, but one had to do some serious walking to find
them. Highlights were Yellow-billed Cuckoo (at least 2), persistantly singing
Northern Waterthrush (boathouse boardwalk), and 6-10+ Baltimore Orioles in the
picnic area (pier to Vistor's Center). Most entertaining was a flock of Am.
Crows and C. Grackles chasing a Red Fox around the picnic area near the fishing
pier.
Stopped briefly at Julie Metz, needed my Yellow W. fix, and was rewarded, also
had great looks at a male Magnolia W. I heard what think was a Willow
Flycatcher in the first impoundment toward Rt. 1 from the parking lot along the
path near the road, and about 30' past the manhole cover. The flycatcher was
about 100 ft out in the impoundment, and I had trouble hearing it clearly due
to the traffic on the road.
