Subject: Cork Computer Club Exchange
Hi all.
Two weeks ago, the inaugural meeting of the Cork Computer Club Exchange took
place in Cork, an offshoot of a similar successful venture in Dublin. I am
sending out this email as I feel that many interested VIPS members may not
have heard about this new development. Its success or failure will depend
entirely on the level of interest shown.
The next meeting will take place on Saturday next June 11th2016 from 11:30
a.m until 1:00 p.m. The venue is Plunkett Chambers, 21 - 23 Oliver Plunket
Street, Cork between Fran & Jane's boutique and Jacks restaurant and
opposite the Old Oak Pub. Some of you may know the location better as the
former offices of the NCBI in Cork.
This location is about a five-minute or so taxi ride from the railway
station and close by the bus station.
This is a joint venture between Fighting Blindness and VICS and
representatives from both bodies have attended and have kindly offered to
continue to do so in order to help the Cork Club get off the ground. To
date, VICS stalwarts Tony Murry, Tim Culhane, Padraig McLoughlin, Cearbhall
O Meadhra and Michael Lavin have come down from Dublin; and John Delaney
from Fighting Blindness also attended the first meeting.
The Club is open to vision impaired people of all levels of computer, iPhone
etc users from beginners upwards and it is entirely up to those attending
the meetings to ask questions, solve problems or offer their own knowledge
and expertise.
