Hi, Note, I have changed the subjectt line! I think that when you ring the 196 number you get straight through! Yes indeed you will need to answer a few questions establishing that you are registered! Unless you have money to burn then don't agree for them to put you through to your requested enquired for number or it will cost you "an arm and a leg"! In all fairness they don't ask normally there but it could happen as they answer "normal" calls also as far as I know. Now Flor, a crackin game tonight with Cork and Limerick! We'll be back! This is a general service, and you would be charged if you make a request for assistance there. Instead, you ask the operator for Special Enquiry Services. When you are put through, and you supply the requested information, they look up a database to see if you are registered etc. O2 and Vodafone are in the list of providers who are accepting the free-to-end-user status of the said Special Enquiry Services. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eleanor Burke" <eleanorburke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, July 25, 2010 12:36 AM Subject: [vip_students] Re: Free Inquiries With o2 Not Flor but I an very confused by your statement re your wife's phone and her not being registered for the 196 directory. Yes I get through on other mobile phones no prob! I rang o2 this evening again as it is normally a quitish time for them and they have taken my query squarely on board and will pass it to their technical people first thing but it may take a few days to get back to me. The strange thing too is that it is not working on my wife's mobile either and she isn't even registered for the service; so It's not just me! And no, we haven't been barred by them! (Smile)! And no it's not the sims! To my surprise, I dialled 196 and got through to Directory Inquiries right away. In answer to a question from eleanor: this service is free as it has been for land-lines for several years, and now it's free for vision-impaired mobile phone users from most providers here also, once you register. You do this by filling out a form you can get from NCBI, etc. ----- Original Message ----- From: "tony sweeney" <deirton711@xxxxxxxxx> To: "students list" <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, July 24, 2010 2:25 AM Subject: [vip_students] Free Inquiries With o2 > Hi Folk, > I wonder if anyone of you tried the 196 number using o2from your > mobile? > Can't access it from my main mobile lately. > Contactting o2, no problem fromm there end. > Cheers, > Tony > >
