Many thanks for your reply. 
I seem to have cured my problem with ie8 as described in my reply to
Francis. I found a Babylon toolbar had been added to my ie8, from where I
have no idea and removing this cured the problem.

Hi Aedan,

I first enquired about this a while ago.  Below is the mail Paul sent in 
response.

It may not be relevant but just to mention when I had assistance downloading

from the link provided it completely crashed the computer and had to get 
assistance from Sight and Sound via Team viewer to fix it.

My problem was the graphics card in the computer and JAWS loosing focus was 
one signal that there was something wrong.  Just a warning.
