Flor,
Yep I understand that I'd be able to transfer my Office 2007 to Win 7 thankfully.

The ribbons are a pain but I'll get uused to them.

I do also have the gMail option of course.

BTW, while you're on, trying to find the Windows 7 tutorial which possibly David Bailes wrote, any ideas as to where to look?

Tony

Hi Tony,

usually, Windows Live mail is chosen by the manufacturer to be the email client, unless you have Microsoft Outlook. Windows Live Mail has ribbons not menus. other than that, it is similar in features to outlook Express.

Good stuff JohnO,

That's the kind of thing I was looking for.

Do you know what email client it uses and is it straight forward like OE for example.

One last question.

Do I need to back up all of my files before installing Win 7?

I will check out David Bail's tutorial too,

He does indeed write some good ones. Thanks,

Tony

Hi Sween,

You'll get a lot of annoying UAC (User Account Control) prompts at
first, but they'll settle down after a while. Windows Explorer in
Win7 is buggy and overly complicated, imho. The freeware program
Classic Shell addresses most of these issues. Other must-have
installs include 7Zip, GWConnect, NVDA, Pandoc, and The Qube. I
wasn't a fan of Win7 at first. I missed XP's no-nonsense directness,
but I gotthe the hang of Win7 after a while.

Good luck!

John

PS: Doesn't David Bailes have a Win7 guide? Link, anyone?
