Replying to my own message. i need to correct wrong information in Stage 4
below. I should have said to unmute Talks, press talks key followed by the
clear or delete key and not Talks and soft key 2. Apologies.

Tony I have just done a little experiment with the sending of audio messages.
Now it is possible to send but what I did discover is that I needed to mute
Talks before starting the recording because if not then when the message
arrived one could hear Talks giving info about the Recording counter. It is
very good actually. You obviously know how to do the message, hence your
question but for the benefit of others I will give the steps having Talks muted.

  Sending A Recorded Message
  1. With Talks Running, go to Messaging and choose new message and select the
option for audio message.
  2. Once audio message is selected and you hear talks say Press Select to
Record, then mute Talks with Talks key followed by Clear or Delete key.
  3. Now Press Select and make your message. I am unsure how many minutes or
if it is just one minute long. Once you have finished Press soft key 2.
  4. At this point I unmute Talks by pressing Talks key and soft key 2.
  5. Now press soft key one and Talks will say that it has inserted new audio
message.
  6. Press Send. You will not be back in your Contacts folder and you can
select someone to send it to.
  7. At this point you might want to send it to a close friend or someone in
the house with a mobile. This will give you the opportunity to hear it back on
their phone.
  8. When you receive an audio message, Talks will tell you when the message is
received that it is an audio message.
  9. In order to listen to your message, press soft key one to Open the Message
and again press soft key one and the message will start playing.

  Enjoy.

  Eleanor

    Hi Folk,

I use NokiaE51 and wonder can you receive audio messages with it (or indeed
other Nokia phones)?

I can certainly send them which I did but we couldn't find it on the E51
when the text message sent, accompanying came in!

Has anyone successfully retrieved audio messages using their Nokia?

    Tony
