Finally got it under control. The upshot is that I'm now using Microsoft Security Essentials. Simple to use and works well with JAWS. Download it from: http://goo.gl/TWW8 Switch off or uninstall your existing anti-virus before starting MSE. Choose the Full Scan option from MSE. It may take the best part of an hour, but it checks for both viruses and malware, good luck, John
