Hi Tony While I do not know what is available in Ireland re Vodafone and Talks I know the C5 is popular here in the UK. As for your issue with coverage, this is interesting to me as for some reason my O2 phone (Irish) here in the UK has switched to Orange and though I can call O2 customer services in Ireland from the phone, I cannot send a text message though I have money in the phone. This happened in March but up to this I had no issues with roaming on the same phone. I am therefore curious to see if on Thursday when in Dublin, the phone will revert to O2.ie I understand that in Ireland Vodafone like the UK put on Talks free of charge but this does limit you to the one and only phone Vodafone provide. There are werty keypads on some phones too, for example the Nokia E5 and E6, though the E6, does have some touch screen. For yourself or anyone else interested if you were to purchase your own copy of Talks from a Talks dealer and already have a phone with Talks, your new purchase of Talks will be the fee for hand-set transfer only which is only about a third of the full price of Talks. To do this you would give your Talks dealer the licence code of your current Talks. In the UK this is a £50 charge so I have a feeling that I have heard it quioted at Euro 75. Doubtless Stuart Lawler from NCBI will correct me on this if I am wrong. All phones that run Talks are listed on the RNIB website and also on the latest release notes of Talks released back in December 2012. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: tony sweeney To: the students list Sent: Monday, April 29, 2013 10:36 AM Subject: [vip_students] Replacement Nokia Phone Morning folk, Firstly not just ready as yet to embrace smart phones but am looking instead for possibly a replacement Nokia phone at a reasonable price say from Vodafone that will include the Talks. Briefly I switched to Tesco Mobile recently and since then I have issues. I was abroad last week and I got no coverage from any network so when I returned home the same, zilsh. Contacted Tesco and they say that is a phone problem, but I'm not so sure. Last time something like that occured I left the sim and battery finally out for a day or so and everything was fine and dandhy again so I am trying that again. Anyone recommend a good reasonably-priced Nokia just in case? Tony Sweeney
