I was very disappointed with the lack of response to the e-mail below Paul. I sent an e-mail to Emma Murphy, left a message on an answer phone at NCBI and contacted the mobile number given below. I take it that my input is not required.

Subject: [vip_students] Users Required for European Project

Dear All,

As part of the European project i2web, we are looking to recruit
participants with low vision (partially sighted) for user testing at
the Centre for Inclusive Technology (CFIT) in NCBI over the next two
weeks (April 8th to 15th). Users who visit NCBI will receive an 80
euro one-for-all voucher, which can be used in hundreds of shops
around the country.

Further details can be found below. It would be great if you could
contact Emma Murphy ASAP by email at emma.murphy@xxxxxxx or by phone
at 086 103 2711 if you would like to participate.

Please pass this on to people you know who may be interested.

All the best,

Sent on behalf of Emma Murphy

Further information follows:

Can you to help us make the Web more usable for everyone? With the Web
now being available on desktop computers, mobile phones and even TVs,
it is more important than ever that Web sites are created so that they
are accessible for everyone, including older people and people with
disabilities.
The “Inclusive Futures – Internet Web Services” Project (i2Web) is
looking for people to help us in evaluating a range of new Websites
and services to better understand the accessibility barriers they
could introduce. We are interested in how you surf the Web, what
types of things do you do on the Web, and when you encounter something
that is difficult, how do you try and work around the problem to find
the information you need. We are definitely not testing your ability
to surf the Web, we are interested in how clearly Websites present
things to real people.

Specifically, we are looking for:

People over 60.

or

People who have low vision and who are experienced using a screen
magnifier to surf the Web.

or

People who are restricted in the range of movements that they can
undertake on keyboards, remote controls or mobile phones and/or use an
assistive technology to work with these devices.

If you fit into one of these groups and would like to participate
please contact emma.murphy@xxxxxxx or 086 103 2711. We will contact
you as soon as possible to set up a short phone interview regarding
your Web experience and technology preferences. If selected you will
be invited to our evaluation suite at the National Council for the
Blind in Drumcondra to work with a variety of different technologies
and websites for approximately two hours. Depending on individual rest
requirements and time required to answer questions in relation to the
testing, the whole process may take a little more time for some
participants. We will offer you a gift voucher for €80 euros, because
your input and feedback are important to us, and your time is valuable!

Any questions at all, please feel free to contact Emma. If you would
like more information about the i2Web project in general then please
visit our website at http://i2web.eu.
