Introduction: One of the many benefits of Word is that you can open and work with several document files at the same time. Each document you open in Word has its own window. This lesson explains how to open and work with more than one document. You will also learn some tricks on changing the size of a window, moving a window, and arranging a window. (Magnification users) *. Click the Open button on the Standard toolbar, then find and open the Abe Lincoln file in you're my documents\my files folder . *. In this email lesson I have included a second file for you to save into your "my documents\my files" folder so do this before you start anything else. The file is called "Outlook Express Tutorial". *. Now we will open up this second file as follows: Step 1. Open the "file menu, Alt + f". Step 2. Arrow down to "open" and press the enter key. Step 3. Press keys, "shift + tab" to reverse jump back into the list of files and folders then arrow down to "my files". Step 4. Press enter and then arrow to the "outlook Express tutorial" and again press "enter keyj" to open it. *.Each open document appears as an icon on the Windows taskbar. The windows task bar is like a book shelf or a shelf that you would have in your cabinet for storing food supplies. Every time you open up a new window, a new item appears on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. So if I have three windows open up on the computer, those three windows would be on my taskbar shelf. To switch to a different document: Step 5. Magnification users; click its icon on the taskbar. *. Screen reader users; in order to switche between items on the taskbar, press and hold down "left alt then press the tab key". Step 6. Magnification users; Click the Abraham Lincoln book on the Windows taskbar . The Aberaham story file document appears. The Outlook Express Tutorial is still open, but you can't see it because it is located behind the Aberaham story document window. Note:Sometimes it can be helpful to view two or more documents onscreen at the same time. (Magnification users) Step 1. Select Window menu, "Arrange All" from the menu . Both documents Outlook Express Tutorial and Abe Lincoln story appear in the program window. Notice how the title bar of the Aberaham Lincoln story window is darker than the title bar of the Outlook Express Tutorial window? That's because the Abe Lincoln story window is active , meaning it's the window or document you're currently working on. The other window, Outlook Express Tutorial , is currently inactive. (Magnification users) *. Click anywhere in the Lesson 2 Schedule window . (Screen reader users) Perform the "alt + tab key movment" to switche between your documents.
