Hi Mairead,In your Word document, press alt-r to bring up the Review Ribbon. Tab a few times, to the Word Count button, and activate it with spacebar. Then virtualise the window with alt+JAWSKey+w. In this Window You can arrow through the information as usual. When you tab to the Close button, you activate that and your normal window (with the document) is back. Also, the information is presented rather quickly when you enter that dialogue (if you don't virtualize it).
I've done it before, and there could be some other ways of doing it. But those are the steps I got that worked when I went in to try it just now.

I am using office 2010 with Jaws and I am unable to find out how many words are in the document. I found word count in the review tab but when I went in to it I just got options such as footnote and close but nothing that gave me a word count. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
