Hi FlorI did not pay for any adobe downloads. They must have been installed when I got the computer. I don't remember ever downloading any adobe software. (I'd blame the kids only I can't imagine adobe being any advantage to games:)I'm not sure what the difference is between the two. I just found them when I looked in control panel. I will follow your instructions and let you know of the outcome.
Thank you for your reply Edel..----- Original Message ----- From: "Flor Lynch" <florlync@xxxxxx>

Hi Edel, I don't think you should have two versions of Adobe running on yourcomputer. Is your Adobe Acrobat 5 only a reader? (Did you have to pay forit, can it write anything? Or is it just the free reader version?) If it is only a reader, then the rest of this message applies. It should have been uninstalled when you or whoever were upgrading to version 7. I might remove version 5 - through ControlPanel, Add/Remove - and then reinstall version 7 if you still have the .exe file on your computer. If not, then I might upgrade from Adobe Reader 7 to Adobe Reader 8 (where it is at the monent), via the Web site; and, followingAdobe's recommendations there, take care to uninstall version 7 before installing version 8.----- Original Message ----- From: "Edel Carey" <careyedel@xxxxxxxxxx>To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, April 29, 2008 10:12 PM Subject: [vip_students] Re: internet explorer and add ons problems Hi EleanorI am really sorry for you going through that trauma tonight. Unfortunately Isometimes get this too but when I give it a go again it works out OK. Whatversion of Adobie Acrobat Reader are you using? Are you familiar with PDF files? I am feeling very sad tonight as I had to have my little guide Dog Pedro (retired) put to sleep today. He was 12 years and 7 months and had been with me for 10 years and 8 months. Those of you who have guide dogs willknow what a heartbreak this is. They do such a wonderful job. Where owouldwe be without them? The following add-on was running when this problem occurred. Add on name: AcroPDF.dll Company Name: Adobe Systems Incorporated Description: Adobe PDF Browser Control I also had this problem a few weeks ago with the tipperary institute website. There is an option to learn more about add-ons in the box but my pc freezes at that point. Anyone any suggestions. I feel it might be something to do with my firewall or protection.
