hi Susan, when I was first familiarising myself with the virtual keyboard are
used to go into the notes app and create a new note and practice there. The
only thing about this is you know how to open Notes and then how to create a
new note. I would spend about five or 10 minutes per day and increase my time.
then I did not always immediately delete the note as I often like to see how I
progress so I might delete it after three days when I could see my
improvements. A bit like typing are used to practice the little brown fox jumps
quickly over the lazy dog I use my left index finger mainly for my typing. once
I could write the sentence very well as it includes all letters of the alphabet
are use then make myself short sentences. I can remember when I first started
sending text messages on my iPhone there were just a few words which then
gradually became a sentence and eventually I could do a long text message. like
every other scale it's all down to practice.

I would recommend that you use standard typing mode until you get used to
touching the screen. There are two modes Standard and touch.
Standard typing: Select a key on the keyboard by swiping left or right, then
double-tap to enter the character. Or move your finger around the keyboard to
select a key and, while continuing to touch the key with one finger, tap the
screen with another finger. VoiceOver speaks the key when it’s selected, and
again when the character is entered.

Touch typing: Touch a key on the keyboard to select it, then lift your
finger to enter the character. If you touch the wrong key, slide your finger
to the key you want. VoiceOver speaks the character for each key as you touch
it, but doesn’t enter a character until you lift your finger.

Choose standard or touch typing: With VoiceOver turned on and a key selected
on the keyboard, use the rotor to select Typing Mode, then swipe up or down.

These notes explain the two types. I think you are using touch typing and
that is very tricky until you are used to the whole touch process.
The other thing that helps is to have the screen locked in portrait mode. If
you don't, then the screen will try to follow your finger and that can be
most irritating!

We only go down south maybe 5 times a year if that, joe would go down more to
see his folks usually when I'm away in England visiting my daughter.
Yes considering that I knew absolutely nothing about the I phone this time
last month think I've come on leaps and bounds. I'm struggling with the
keyboard like putting numbers or texts in manually it goes so quick and by
the time I've lifted my finger to put a letter in it has moved on to the next
letter.
