Hi Susan,

Try the following:

1. Go into my documents and do as you mentioned, go into the view menu and
enter on list.

2. Next go into the tools menu from where you are and enter on "folder
options".

3. When in folder options, make sure that the very first list box says
something like "use classic desktop" or something with the word classic in
it. Just up or down arrow to set this.

4. Now do a control + tab key to go into the views tab page. As soon as you
are there just hit the spacebar and a message will pop up asking if you
really want to reset the default view, tab to the yes button and press enter
on it.

5. Now tab to the "ok" button and press enter again and you're done. This
should maintain the list view for you.

Paul.

hi folks,

when I go in to my documents or any where that there is a list of files or
folders they are never in a list I think they call the other way grid lines,
I put them in to a list by going in to the view menu arrowing down to list
hit enter on list and they are in a list but if I come out of that to go and
do some thing else when I go back they are back in to grid limes, how do I
save them permanently in to lists?

susan
best wishes
