Susan go to Start, P for Programmes and A for Accessories. Select Accessories by pressing Enter on Accessories. Arrow down now until you hear Notepad and Enter on it. It is much more primative than Microsoft Word but you can do basic writing in it, no fancy formatting. It is like a text editor. I suggest you try and find out why Word is going very slow because the problem may impact on the computer as a whole.
