I don't think there is a specific shortcut key for the ruler.  However, you
could take a look through Tools, Options, IN THE View tab, and uncheck what
you want to be seen (by you or JAWS).  Also, JAWS MS Word commands - you can
get them with Insert+F1, Insert+h, or Insert+w (for general Word commands).

does anyone know of a short cut key that will read out the position of text
on the ruler in a word document. I need this for using tabs. many thanks.
