Hello, Recently I made a VAC (virtual audio cable) by doing an Audio Device Driver providing virtual output and input (to route an application to another : typically a player to a recorder). It's in pre-release there www.vb-vac.com... I'm waiting for certificate to make 64 bit version. REM for Tim: the biggest challenge has been to make a real time format converter to be able to accept whatever buffer (with whatever format) in the workflow (also it seems there is a behavior difference between 2000/XP where the client application can change the device format, and Vista/W7/W8 where the device format seems to be not modified by the client application but converted and delivered by windows in the current device format (kMixer ? with a bad sound quality btw). Question 1 : Since Windows Vista, it seems the Recording device cannot provide more than 2 channels : is it a official system limitation ? is there workaround to provide for example 8 channels in a recording device (under W7/W8) ? Question 2: Does it make sense today to accept more than 8 channels in an audio device driver ? I mean is the system or/and is there window player application managing that ? Thanks by advance Regards Vincent Burel www.vb-audio.com www.mt128.com www.vb-vac.com
