You are misinterpreting this exchange. Windows' behavior with multiple identical USB devices is well-defined. It might not match your intuition, but it does not have "difficulties" dealing with them. When you plug in two web cameras, you can fire up two copies of AMCAP and they both work fine. That's part of our QA process.


Some people expect to be able to pick up one of the two cameras and know beforehand which AMCAP window will mate up with which camera. I'm not convinced that's a reasonable expectation.
