Hello Ted,
I did not read the article but I’ll tell you what I do. I use labels. I’ll
start playback by pressing X and then stop it with Space. I open the label
dialogue by pressing Control b. I type in the track name and press Enter. I
then start playback and use the arrow keys to fast forward through the track.
Shift plus right or left arrow goes through the track faster. When I come to
the end of the track I go back and forth with the arrows until I’m happy with
centering the space by ear and press X. Again I pres Control B, name the track
then play through to the next one. Do this until you’ve labeled all the
tracks. Before Exporting you may want to set up a Metadata template in the
edit menue. Then use export as multiple. You’ll have to hit enter each time
the metadata message comes up . Important tip, be sure to hit the home button
before starting labels. Hope this helps.
Steve

Subject: [audacity4blind] Digitizing vinyl
Hello everyone,
I recently started using Audacity to digitize my vinyl collection, playing them
on the new Sony turntable I bought. Thanks to some resources I found on the
web, I’ve managed to record several albums now and save them as flac to my
music server. All good so far, but I’m just saving the entire side as one
file. I’d like to be able to split up the tracks on the albums, though.
This is the link to the article that I used to figure out how to record vinyl:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-digitize-vinyl-records
But the process described for splitting up tracks is visual in nature.
Can anyone give me some tips or point me to a resource? In particular, how
could I find the silent points between tracks and then mark them as described
in the article?
Thanks for your help.
Ted
