To add a little to Steve’s tips, I have recorded some audio tutorials on using
Audacity. They are on this page<https://www.sendspace.com/folder/xusytz>.
There is one specifically on using labels and one on exporting to multiple
files from Audacity. The most recent, which only took me about two years to
get around to, is on navigating Audacity. For finding gaps you will find the
scrubbing feature, demoed there, most useful.
A minor revision to Steve’s note. Shift+left/right arrows extends highlight.
For jumping through material use fullstop (.) and comma (,) for short jumps
forward and back and add the shift key for longer jumps.

Hello everyone,
I recently started using Audacity to digitize my vinyl collection, playing them
on the new Sony turntable I bought. Thanks to some resources I found on the
web, I’ve managed to record several albums now and save them as flac to my
music server. All good so far, but I’m just saving the entire side as one
file. I’d like to be able to split up the tracks on the albums, though.

But the process described for splitting up tracks is visual in nature.
Can anyone give me some tips or point me to a resource? In particular, how
could I find the silent points between tracks and then mark them as described
in the article?
